AI is an outpatient Radiology Imaging Centre. It has been conceived with the objective of providing expert Radiology services to the city of Chennai at reasonable costs. Under the capable leadership of Dr Rochita Venkataramanan, AI hopes to address several problem areas in Radiology offering innovative solutions using state of the art equipment.

Radiology is a relatively young branch of Medicine. Its history began in 1895 when Wilhelm Roentgen took the first Xray. This branch is dependent upon advances in the fields of engineering and computers. Recent years has seen dramatic improvements in various modalities used by this branch to scan the human body. Today’s Radiologist needs to perform scans on complex machines and interpret the thousands of sections that are obtained with the help of dedicated software on fast computers.

At Advantage imaging, the team of Radiologists and technologists are highly skilled at such tasks with resultant improved accuracy. Tailored studies are performed to target specific disease conditions with enhanced wealth of information for the treating clinician. Detailed reports with images are a hallmark of AI. These provide the clinician with a road map for the management.

The founder Dr Rochita Venkataramanan has completed her undergraduate studies at the prestigious Grant Medical College and Sir J J group of Hospitals at Mumbai in the year 1989. She was selected for the Postgraduate training in Radiology at the Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai which is the leading institution for Oncology in India.

She completed her MD as well as DNB in the year 1993. After another three years of gaining experience in private centers at Mumbai she relocated in 1996 to Chennai which is the hometown of her husband Dr Venkataramanan Swaminathan, a senior and reputable Orthopedic Surgeon. Her Residency at the Tata Memorial Hospital has given her a deep insight into Oncology related Imaging and a passion to help patients suffering from cancer.

At Chennai, she joined Malar Hospitals and worked from 1994 to 2004 before moving to Apollo Hospitals in 2005. She established the first 64 slice CT scan in India at the Apollo Heart Centre with Heart and Body imaging CT and CT Angiography services.

In 2008 she established the 320 slice CT services at the Apollo Heart Centre which was again Indias only such service.

In 2020 she participated in establishing the only 640 slice CT scan in India at the Apollo Heart Centre. She retired from Apollo as the Director Clinical Radiology with a vision to offer her high skills through her team to the city of Chennai. Dr Rochita Venkataramanan is a passionate clinical researcher and has five new Radiology signs to her name published in leading International and National Medical Journals. These signs help to accurately diagnose specific diseases and are used by Radiologists all over the world. To build Radiology skills in the diagnosis of Abdominal diseases in India

she founded the Indian Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ISGAR) www.isgar.org and is the President. She also founded the journal of the Society called Journal of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (JGAR) www.thieme.com /books-main/radiology/product/5001-journal-of-gastrointestinal-and-abdominal-radiology and is the Editor in Chief. She has led the journal to indexation at the DOAJ within a short period of three years of its existence. Dr Rochita Venkataramanan has worked with leading Clinicians in the city of Chennai on difficult cases and is part of many multi-disciplinary teams that address challenging medical cases.

At Advantage Imaging, she will carry on her multidisciplinary collaborations for the benefit of patients in order to save lives by specific scanning protocols, post-processing and interdisciplinary discussions as well as detailed planning prior to treatment.
